An independent advisory firm working at the intersection of Islamic capital markets, project and corporate finance, and banking and takaful growth strategy. We structure sukuk and Islamic instruments, originate DFI and export-credit backed project finance, and advise financial institutions on growth — across the GCC, the United Kingdom and Africa.
Independent by design. We do not arrange, underwrite, distribute or take positions in the instruments we advise on, and we accept no fees from any party other than our client.
Nobel & Aethel Advisory — Sustainability At Its Core
Institutions at which our founder has held appointments, contributed to standards, or delivered programmes over a thirty-year career.
Nobel & Aethel Advisory is a UK-registered independent advisory firm specialising in sukuk structuring and issuance, Islamic capital markets and Islamic private credit — together with the Shariʻah and corporate governance frameworks that make Shariʻah-compliant capital investable at institutional scale. Sustainable and green finance sits alongside this core practice as an adjacent capability, not a separate business line.
Our work is guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the Principles for Responsible Investment and global ESG best practice. We believe that sustainability must be embedded in everything we do — not as a compliance posture, but as the very architecture of our advice, our partnerships and our culture. In every market we serve, we seek to advance inclusive growth, green economic development, women's empowerment and ethical business conduct.
With active engagement across MENA, Sub-Saharan Africa, Central Asia and Southeast Asia, we advise sovereigns, institutions, financial intermediaries and corporates who share our conviction that responsible advisory creates enduring value — for clients, communities and the planet.
To deliver independent, principled advisory that accelerates sustainable economic development — connecting capital, governance and opportunity across the markets that need it most. We serve with integrity, and measure success by the lasting impact we create for our clients, communities and the broader world.
To be the most trusted advisor at the intersection of Islamic finance, sustainable capital and responsible governance — operating across MENA, Africa and Central Asia as a firm recognised not only for its expertise, but for the values it embodies: sustainability, equity, integrity and enduring impact.
Sukuk structuring and issuance advisory, Islamic private credit origination and capital market instrument design — grounded in internationally recognised Shariʻah standards developed with global standard-setting bodies and GCC regulators. Feasibility assessment through to execution.
Origination and structuring of project and corporate financing for real-economy ventures — working with development finance institutions, export credit agencies, export banks and credit insurers. Covering EPC funding, equity partnership, risk-sharing and trade finance structures.
Growth and transformation strategy for Islamic and conventional banks, takaful operators and Islamic windows — covering market entry, product architecture, distribution, balance-sheet strategy and the regulatory approvals that gate each of them.
Investment origination, matchmaking and deployment advisory connecting institutional and development capital with mission-aligned ventures — including equity partnership, direct investment, joint venture and public-private partnership structures across emerging markets.
Shariʻah supervisory board establishment, Shariʻah audit and governance framework design, alongside conventional board advisory on risk oversight, committee architecture and regulatory compliance. Designed to stand up to supervisory review in practice, not only on paper.
Green and sustainability-linked instruments including green sukuk, ESG framework design, blended finance structuring and DFI engagement — aligning capital with environmental and social objectives across jurisdictions and asset classes.
Shariʻah structuring and development-capital access are ordinarily separate disciplines, held in separate institutions. Nobel & Aethel is built to hold both — and to add the institutional strategy layer that helps banks and takaful operators develop the capability in-house. It is the combination, rather than any single element, that defines our practice.
Three decades at standards level — sukuk, Islamic private credit and capital market instruments built to survive both the Shariʻah board and the investment committee.
Through formal associations with specialist project finance and investment houses: access to export credit agencies, export banks, credit insurers, development finance institutions and sovereign wealth capital.
Advisory to the banks and takaful operators that originate, distribute and hold these instruments — so that capability is developed within the institution and endures beyond a single transaction.
Most first conversations begin with a single question: is this transaction viable at all? We will tell you plainly, before you commit budget to finding out.
From London’s financial centre to the high-growth markets of the GCC, Sub-Saharan Africa and Central Asia, Nobel & Aethel Advisory operates where sophisticated capital meets transformative growth opportunity.
Nobel & Aethel places special strategic emphasis on the GCC as a priority advisory market. We partner with mid-market corporations, SMEs and institutional clients across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain to unlock growth capital, build institutional governance frameworks and access Islamic and conventional financing markets. The GCC’s transformation agenda — Vision 2030, UAE Centennial 2071 and national diversification strategies — creates exceptional opportunities for advisory-led value creation.
Nobel & Aethel delivers specialist advisory across high-impact sectors — from renewable energy and healthcare to natural resources, climate finance and Islamic private credit — mapped to the economies where growth is most transformative.
Structuring expertise is one half of a transaction. Through formal associations with specialist project finance, investment and legal houses in the United Kingdom and the Gulf, Nobel & Aethel connects the instruments it structures to the capital that funds them.

Nobel & Aethel is a boutique by design, not by accident. Every mandate is led personally by Dr Hatim El-Tahir, and delivered through a curated network of associate partners and international professionals — Shariʻah scholars, transaction lawyers, structuring specialists, sector economists and regulatory advisers — assembled specifically for each engagement.
Origination and client relationships are handled personally by the Principal. The person who scopes your mandate is the person who delivers it. There is no handover, and no dilution between the meeting and the work.
For each engagement we convene the specific specialists the transaction requires — Shariʻah advisory, legal documentation, credit and cash-flow modelling, sector diligence, regulatory liaison — drawn from established associate partners across London, the GCC and Africa.
Origination, structuring and investment advisory are delivered collectively by that assembled team, under a single point of accountability. You engage one firm, and receive the combined judgement of specialists who would ordinarily sit in four separate institutions.
Our structure is built around a simple commitment: the seniority you meet is the seniority you receive. Mandates are scoped and led by the Principal, and each team is assembled to fit the transaction precisely — no more, and no less, than the work genuinely requires.
We are independent by design. We do not arrange, underwrite, distribute or take positions in the instruments we advise on, and we accept no fees from any party other than our client. Our associate partners are engaged and remunerated by us rather than by the transaction, so their contribution is aligned entirely with the client's interest. Our only product is judgement.
We are glad to have a confidential, no-obligation conversation about whether we are the right firm for your situation — and to tell you plainly if we are not.
Nobel & Aethel welcomes approaches from senior practitioners interested in joining our associate partner network, and from prospective Advisory Board members. Please contact us for further information.

Nobel & Aethel Advisory publishes policy whitepapers, applied research and practitioner commentary across the sustainable economy, the green transition, governance, risk and compliance, technology, and the sectors in which we advise. Our purpose is to shape the standards, not merely to follow them.
We prepare bespoke policy research, board briefings and market position papers for regulators, sovereign entities, financial institutions and development partners.
We believe that advisory excellence and ethical leadership are inseparable. Nobel & Aethel's culture is defined by what we stand for — not just what we deliver.
Every mandate is governed by absolute integrity, radical transparency and unwavering adherence to our Code of Professional Conduct. We maintain the highest ethical standards in every jurisdiction, relationship and transaction — without compromise.
We recognise that women are foundational to building strong societies, economies and institutions. Nobel & Aethel actively champions women's leadership in business and finance — through the advisory mandates we pursue, the organisations we partner with, and the culture we foster within our own firm.
We are committed to equal opportunity in every dimension — gender, nationality, faith and background. Diversity of thought and lived experience is not a policy; it is the source of our best counsel. We hold ourselves to the same inclusion standards we advise our clients to adopt.
We are deliberate about the social footprint of our work. Advisory that strengthens governance, mobilises green capital and connects DFI financing to frontier markets is, at its core, social impact work. We amplify this through active engagement with purpose-driven organisations and social finance initiatives.
"Sustainability in everything we do" is not a tagline — it is the operating philosophy of Nobel & Aethel. From how we structure a mandate to how we select our partners, from the instruments we design to the markets we prioritise, sustainability is the lens through which every decision is made.
We are advocates for leveraging technological advancement to accelerate green economic growth. From digital sukuk and blockchain-verified green bonds to AI-powered ESG analytics and satellite-based impact monitoring — we bring frontier technology to bear in pursuit of eternal, systemic impact.
Our advisory mandate maps directly to six of the seventeen SDGs — each a lens through which we assess the impact and integrity of our work.
We are a small firm with a deliberately high bar. We hire people who want to do serious work on questions that matter.
Nobel & Aethel Advisory is building a practice around a simple conviction: that rigorous, independent counsel changes outcomes in the markets that need it most. We are looking for outstanding graduates at the start of their careers, and experienced consultants ready to take ownership of client relationships, to join us in serving that mission.
We are an equal opportunity firm. We welcome applications from candidates of every background, and we are committed in particular to advancing women's leadership across the markets in which we operate. Speculative applications are genuinely read.
Tell us briefly about yourself. If there is a fit, we will be in touch to arrange an initial conversation.
Whether you are an institution, sovereign entity, corporate or intermediary navigating complex markets — submit a request for proposal and we will respond with a considered outline of scope, approach and indicative terms. All submissions are treated in strict confidence and reviewed personally by the Principal.
